9/21/2014请加入我们纽约大游行

In September, heads of state are going to New York City for a historic summit on climate change. With our future on the line, we will take a weekend and use it to bend the course of history.

In New York City there will be an unprecedented climate mobilisation – in size, beauty, and impact. Our demand is a world we know is within our reach: a world with an economy that works for people and the planet. In short, a world safe from the ravages of climate change.

This moment will not be just about New York or the United States. Heads of state from around the world will be there, as will the attention of global media. We know that no single meeting or summit will “solve climate change” and in many ways this moment will not even really be about the summit.

We want this moment to be about us – the people who are standing up in our communities, to organise, to build power, and to shift power to a just, safe, peaceful world.

To do that, we need to act – together.

Dear friends,

There hasn't been a social movement in the history of the U.S. that has succeeded without putting massive numbers of people in the streets, and the closer we get, the more it looks like the People's Climate March could be the biggest action on climate the world's ever seen.

But this isn't going to become a truly transformative moment unless we reach deep into our neighborhoods, where we live, to talk with our friends and neighbors about how the climate crisis is real and pressing -- and how important it is to fill the streets on September 21st.

Neighborhood captains are the ones who drive this effort and we want you to become one -- Click here to sign up.

Together with community partners and volunteers, neighborhood captains are already hitting the streets to make sure everybody around them knows about the People's Climate March.

You will be contributing to make this an unprecedented climate mobilization -- in size, beauty, and impact. Part of that is asking you to come as not just yourself, but with your arms linked to those you love and care about. This September, we want grandmothers walking hand in hand with their granddaughters. We want neighbors carrying banners together.

Click here to sign up to be a neighborhood captain and work to bring dozens of your friends, family, neighbors to come join the march. We will make sure you're supported every step of the way in mobilizing your community.

If you can't commit to being a neighborhood captain, but still want to help out, join us this week in the office. We're making calls every weekday from 1-4pm and 6-9pm. We need 20 people phone banking everyday in order to get the word out to every community in the city -- join us this week.

Click here to sign up to join us to make calls about the People's Climate March this week.

See you soon,
Caroline

P.S. We're also looking for people in New York City to host people from out of town who are coming to New York --  if you have a spare bedroom, couch, or floor space that you are comfortable lending to a fellow person concerned about climate change, please sign up as a host here.
